Days 55 and 56

On Saturday Mike rented a digger to back fill the trenches and the drainage pits.  Mike's brother, Richard, came over and helped rake and level the areas. 

And then he started digging the path for the driveway.

Then Mike showed me how to run the digger and gave me a chance to dig!

Unfortunately, I never managed to get even one shovel full of dirt.  Oh well, back to painting!  Heather and I got the second coat of paint on the upstairs hall and the first coat on the trim around the window and doors. 

Richard stayed for dinner and we ate tacos while we watched the 50 best scenes from the Harry Potter movies.

On Sunday, Mike returned the digger and then went on a tramp (hike) with his friend, Stewart.  Heather worked diligently on a knitting project and I put the second coat of paint on the stairwell and the upstairs hallway trim.  The bathroom is the only room left upstairs that needs to be painted.  Stewart stayed for dinner and then Mike fired up the bath tub and convinced Stewart to give it a try!

We were expecting baby turkeys from Bexley's eggs today, but none have hatched yet.  It could be that our calculations are wrong or maybe none of the eggs will hatch.  That would be sad for Bexley who has been sitting on them for a month!   We'll see what happens tomorrow.
