Days 49, 50, and 51

Sunday was a beautiful day so we spent most of it working outside.  Mike spruced up his fabulous workbench and moved it into the garage.

I think he plans to put some drawers and/or cabinets in the bottom part - it is a work in progress.

Heather and Mike planted several more trees in the orchard and I filled some of the holes in the yard that I keep tripping into.  I planted some more vegetables in pots and placed them in the garden and also started another raised area for melons.

Mike fixed the leaky shower.  He was right - it was just that the bottom tray had not been sealed with silicone.  Then he finished the patching and sanding in the upstairs hallway and the stairwell.  In the evening he assembled the vanity that will go in the upstairs bathroom.

Bromley is marching her little ones all over the yard teaching them how to look for food and to navigate through the tall grass and clover.  They do stay close to her but if they get too far away she calls to them and they come right back.  Sometimes you can't actually see them, but you can tell where they are because the tall grass or clover rustles as they move through it.  I did manage to get a short video of them on short grass!

On Monday, Heather and I painted primer on the walls and ceiling of the upstairs hall and stairwell.  Heather did most of the painting in the stairwell using a makeshift scaffolding system over the stairs.

On Tuesday we put on the first coat of paint and I painted the ceiling while Heather varnished the coving (molding) that Mike is going to put at the ceiling/wall joints in each room.

Taking a break out on my balcony, we watched Jimenez scratch his back on the stone pile!

Charlie has abandoned the eggs in the nest in the chicken run, so there is no prospect of baby chickens by the time I leave at the end of the month.  Boo!
